WELCOME TO THE UCIT CENTER FOR SIMULATIONS & VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENTS RESEARCH (UCSIM)

The Center for Simulations & Virtual Environments Research (UCSIM) provides support for the application of virtual environments to enhance teaching and learning and to model complex processes and phenomena through the use of computer generated and enhanced environments. Our multidisciplinary approach combines expertise in computer graphics and multimedia applications, 3D modeling and design, and internet enabled social and virtual reality software to create educational and practical applications of virtual worlds, augmented reality, 3D immersive and virtual spaces, simulations, and “serious games”.

UCIT LEADING INNOVATION IN IMMERSIVE TECHNOLOGIES

While the sophisticated computers in our pockets are transforming what it means to work and play in a mobile world, other advances in technology promise the ability to interact with both the physical world and computer-simulated virtual environments in new and more natural ways. The UCIT Center for Simulations & Virtual Environments Research (UCSIM) develops realistic simulations to create immersive learning experiences for students and experimental simulations for researchers. Users can interact with the virtual environment with a typical computer, keyboard, and mouse or become fully immersed with consumer-grade virtual reality technology like the Oculus Rift, Microsoft Kinect, and Leap Motion.
