UCSIM is providing technical consulting, training, and project mentoring for the AFRL Discovery Lab Virtual Discovery Center, including the development of virtual learning academies within the Discovery Grid to support distance learning projects and distance multi-disciplinary research collaborations, organizing a strategy to connect 1,000 undergrad students pursuing STEM in the areas of engineering, computer science, IT, and cybersecurity, and developing a thriving virtual community with ongoing workshops, learning academies, technical mini-conferences, and research projects. In 2013, UCSIM mentored students in the creation of a virtual conference center that was used as the virtual venue for the OpenSimulator Community Conference 2013, and prepared a proposal for a Massively Online Open Research (MOOR) community that was submitted to DARPA.
