The Digital Futures AR/VR & Motion Capture Lab features a wide variety of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) devices to support research on- or off-site.
The Digital Futures AR/VR & Motion Capture Lab encompasses 3,424 sq. ft. of laboratory space, including a 20’ x 30’ virtual reality play space that can accommodate up to 4 simultaneous individual or multi-player users.
The Digital Futures AR/VR & Motion Capture Lab features a virtual reality-based driving simulator capable of one-to-one real-world controls and realistic handling, which provides opportunities for research involving a moving vehicle to be conducted safely.
Motion capture data can be used for a variety of applications including the capture of behavioral data for analysis and the creation of custom animations for AR/VR applications and simulations. We offer:
- Full body motion capture
- Facial motion capture
- Hand motion capture

The Digital Futures AR/VR & Motion Capture Lab features a variety of biometric data capture options for use with immersive technology experiences, including:
- Full body, facial, and hand motion capture
- Eye tracking
- Heart Rate
- Galvanic Skin Response (GSR)
VISITING THE LAB
The Digital Futures AR/VR & Motion Capture Lab encompasses 3,424 sq. ft. of laboratory space, including a 20’ x 30’ virtual reality play space that can accommodate up to 4 simultaneous individual or multi-player users.
Seating areas and lockers are provided to securely store personal items while using the facilities, and each workstation is equipped with a Vive Focus 3 VR system – or bring your own!
DIRECTIONS
The Digital Futures AR/VR & Motion Capture Lab is located in the Digital Futures building at 3080 Exploration Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45206, off of Lincoln Ave. and across the street from the 1819 Innovation Hub.
To access the parking garage under the building, turn left onto Exploration Ave. and follow the signs for Digital Futures parking. Once you park in the garage, take the elevator to the ground floor (G) and check-in at the front desk. The front desk staff will let us know that you have arrived.
